Point guard of the University of Iowa women’s basketball team Caitlin Clark celebrating in-game in the second round of the 2023 NCAA Women’s Basketball Tournament on March 19. Clark scored a total of 191 points throughout the tournament which broke the record for the most points scored in a single NCAA Tournament for both men’s and women’s.

Art exhibit spotlights ceramic medium

The art department held an opening reception for their new art exhibit called “Vessel and Visage” on Thursday.

Located in the Art Gallery, the exhibition featured ceramic pieces from Sacramento artists Roy Lizama and Katri Uno. The event also held a live event in which a ceramic piece was made for the audience’s entertainment.

The Cosumnes River College men’s basketball team kept their win streak alive after beating Modesto Junior College on Tuesday.

With a final score of 84-55, this game marks the sixth consecutive win for the Hawks. The game was dominated by the Hawks with good ball movement and aggressive rebounds and they were able to maintain a solid lead throughout the game.

The Cosumnes River College men’s soccer team advanced to the third round of playoffs on Saturday after a 6-1 win over the Las Positas College Hawks.

CRC took the lead early in the first half with a goal by sophomore forward Myles Reed and continued to gain momentum as the game progressed. With high energy on display and consistent ball control throughout the game, the CRC Hawks were able to secure the win, keeping them in the running for a state title.

The Cosumnes River College men’s basketball team lost to Columbia College in an 87-80 game on Saturday.

Voters will have the opportunity in Tuesday’s election to vote on Proposition 1, a legislative constitutional amendment that would protect Californians’ rights to abortion and contreceptives.

New women’s basketball coach pairs optimism and honesty

The women’s basketball team is going into its 2022-2023 season with a new Interim Head Coach, Samuel Kirby.

Kirby has been around basketball for nearly his whole life. He has experienced all aspects of the game, from playing and recruiting to assistant and head coaching positions. The Cosumnes River College women’s volleyball team secured their fourth win of the season at home against De Anza College on Friday.

The team hosted the CRC Classic and played against College of Siskiyous and De Anza College in the first home games of the season. After a tough 3-2 loss in the first game against Siskiyous, the Hawks bounced back with a 3-2 win against De Anza.
