The Cosumnes River College men’s soccer team advanced to the third round of playoffs on Saturday after a 6-1 win over the Las Positas College Hawks.

CRC took the lead early in the first half with a goal by sophomore forward Myles Reed and continued to gain momentum as the game progressed. With high energy on display and consistent ball control throughout the game, the CRC Hawks were able to secure the win, keeping them in the running for a state title.

In a high-intensity game with many turnovers and scoring opportunities, the Hawks fought hard to the last minute. With fouls being called on the Hawks paired with some defensive errors, the team fell short of their third win of the season.

The women’s basketball team is going into its 2022-2023 season with a new Interim Head Coach, Samuel Kirby.

Kirby has been around basketball for nearly his whole life. He has experienced all aspects of the game, from playing and recruiting to assistant and head coaching positions. With the new season starting up, Kirby said he’s excited to begin building a positive environment for his athletes and compete this season in the Big 8.

The team hosted the CRC Classic and played against College of Siskiyous and De Anza College in the first home games of the season. After a tough 3-2 loss in the first game against Siskiyous, the Hawks bounced back with a 3-2 win against De Anza.
